How Your Thoughts Can Make You Rich

Our thoughts can make us rich or keep us poor. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy: if you think positive thoughts about money and believe that you can achieve financial success, you're more likely to do so. On the other hand, if you're always thinking negative thoughts about your financial situation, you're never going to dig yourself out of that hole. So how do you train your brain to think positively?

In this blog:

  • The power of positive thinking

  • Learn to think like a millionaire

  • Don’t be afraid to take risks

  • Visualise your success

  • Set a damn goal

The power of positive thinking

Let's start with the basics: positive thinking leads to successful outcomes.

This isn't just some fluffy concept. Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania found that optimistic sales professionals outsell their pessimistic counterparts by 37%. According to Harvard Business Review, optimists have also been found to make more money over the course of their careers and to be more satisfied with their career path.

When you believe in yourself, you open yourself up to opportunities and take more risks, leading to better chances of success.

Action

Any negative thought can be reframed into a positive. Try this the next time you are feeling pessimistic about your future.

Now, I won't sugarcoat it – being a millionaire isn't as simple as repeating positive affirmations. But if you cultivate an optimistic outlook, you'll be better equipped to face challenges and turn setbacks into opportunities.

Learn to think like a millionaire

Have you ever wondered what sets millionaires apart from everyone else?

It's their mindset.

They think differently. They look for solutions instead of dwelling on problems. They take actionable steps towards success instead of sitting around waiting for it to magically happen.

Many of us have negative associations with money, such as feeling guilty about wanting it or feeling like we don't deserve it. These feelings create a block in our financial success; if we don't believe that we deserve wealth, we will never attain it.

To overcome this, start by changing the way you view money. Think of it as a tool for achieving your goals and as something that you deserve to have. Because you do!

Don’t be afraid to take risks

They say that you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. And I'm pretty sure that applies to money and life choices too.

We know, money can be a scary thing sometimes. Will you have enough to pay the bills next month? Are you making the right investments?

Note

One thing's for sure: if you don't take risks, you'll never reap the rewards.

Don't be afraid to take risks when it comes to your finances and chasing your dreams.

Sure, failure might be a possibility, but it's also a chance to learn and grow. And honestly, what's the worst that could happen? You lose some cash and maybe a bit of pride?

Trust me, that's not as bad as it sounds. Life is way too short to not take chances.

Visualise your success

Visualisation is the act of consciously imagining something we want.

This is a powerful tool to help you reach your goals.

Note

Elite athletes are known to practice visualisation, as well as many driven entrepreneurs

The key is to picture yourself achieving one of your goals and imagining what it will feel like.

If you want a new job, close your eyes and visualise every detail.

What is the commute like? How does the office look? Who are your colleagues? Do you have your own desk? What type of work are you doing there?

Imagining ourselves thriving in the future is an incredibly powerful tool when it comes to our personal development.

Set a damn goal

Many people don't set financial goals because they don't believe that they can achieve them or aren't sure how to go about it. But setting financial goals is crucial to your wealth-building journey.

Note

When you set a goal, you are creating a clear path to success and giving yourself something to work towards.

So, take some time to set some financial goals - whether it's paying off debt, saving for a house or investing in stocks

The act of setting the goal will put you on the path to achieving it.
